K.L. Kranes’ riveting debut novel, The Travelers, is an exciting story of two teenagers who meet serendipitously and discover they have a mysterious connection. With a second book in the series, The Gateway, set to release, follow the heroes of this fast-paced romantic adventure as they face the trials of high school while battling terrifying magical foes.
K.L. Kranes lives in the Washington, DC metro area with her husband, daughter and their adorable, but mischievous, dog who is the real ruler of the household. She graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in Communications. K.L. moved to NYC after college where she entered the glamours life of public relations before she realized she’d much rather be sitting at a computer writing than standing at a party holding a celebrity’s coat. She currently works as a freelance writer and editor. In her non-writing time, she enjoys hanging out with her family, organizing her library and coming up with crazy, oftentimes unrealistic, ideas for how to reinvent old furniture. (If only her imagination knew how to wield a hammer.)
In my previous work life, I was a: shoe store clerk (still miss the discounts), clothing store saleswoman (ditto), a pool-side snack shop worker (where I learned to make a mean grilled cheese), lifeguard (which is scary because I’m a terrible swimmer).
If I wasn’t a writer, I’d be: a singer/songwriter (except I can’t sing, so that would be a problem) or an English Professor.
When I was a kid I wanted to be: a writer. (As soon as I could write, I would fill books and papers with poems and stories.)
The first music artist I remember loving: was Neil Diamond. (Try not to sing along to Sweet Caroline. I dare you.)
My favorite music artists right now: are Cold War Kids, Portugal. The Man and Unknown Mortal Orchestra, but that could change tomorrow.
My favorite books: are always changing… but here are few that stick…Atlas Shrugged, Midnight’s Children, A Brief History of 7 Killings, The Giver.
My favorite TV shows of all time: are Gilmore Girls, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Veronica Mars. (Do you see a theme here?)
If I could live anywhere, I would live: in New York City again. Some people leave their heart in San Francisco. I left my in NYC.
If I could have a superpower it would be: telekinesis because then I could reach things that are too high. (I’m short.)
My actual superpower is: predicting the end to any movie or TV show.
