Yesterday I did the unthinkable for a book lover, I destroyed a book. Not just one or two either. I participated in the destruction of many books. And I did this right in front of the most sacred of book places - the entrance of a public library. But why?

To an author, especially one like me from a small press (The Travelers, Saguaro Books) without a huge marketing budget, book review bloggers are critical for success. They're also the gateway for readers to a world of undiscovered books. Book bloggers constantly reviews books, feature authors, write profiles on upcoming book events or materials. This week we had our monthly Nightlighter book club meeting to discuss the YA book, If I Was Your Girl, which lead to an enlightening literary and cultural discussion. Indie. It is a shortened version of the word independent, in that it's free from the giant corporate conglomerates that dominate the world. It's a medium that's free to experiment and unconstrained by interference from those who care only about money, not art. Indie music. Indie film. You can find an indie version almost anything artistic, including books.
