Monday Blogs: Best Bada#! Female Characters and Why We Love Them

I love strong female characters. And since it's women's history month, I thought a blog about some of my favorite badass female characters in TV, movies and literature and why they rock, would be fun. So here it goes!

Sunday Funday: One Crazy Afternoon of Books, Music and Food (But Mostly Books)

On our way to our weekly music lesson on Sunday, my daughter sat in the back seat of the car lamenting that we never do anything interesting on Sundays and that she needed more steps. Apparently, unbeknownst to me, Sundays in our family are "boring." So, you can guess what I suggested - let's check out a new bookstore!

Oscars and Literature: Guess Which Nominated Movies are Based on Books?

I love movies almost as much as I love books. And I love watching the Oscars. However, if there is a movie based on a book, I'd really prefer to read the book first. So, I'm always interested to know what movies have books as their basis. If you are too, here is a list of the movies nominated for Oscars that are based on published books and novels.

My Favorite Romantic Books for Love Day

If you read my last blog, you are already aware that I am a Valentine's Day Scrooge. Instead, I prefer to celebrate the little known holiday of "Love Day." In honor of Love Day, here are some of my favorite books with an extra helping of cheesy romance.

Monday Blog: Book Check – My Reading Goal Progress

If it were a real winter I'd be curled up by a cozy fire right now with my book. Instead, I guess I'll have to settle for the wood-burning fire channel or at least a pretty candle. Perhaps this is why I have not made at far as I would like in my reading goals this year. So, how am I doing? Let's see...

On Lincoln’s Birthday: The Eloquence of A Great Leader

oday, February 12, is Abraham Lincoln's birthday. He is viewed by many as one of the greatest, or maybe the greatest, President in US history. But what made him a great leader? It was at least in part, his ability to verbalize thoughts eloquently, like a writer.
