Yesterday I went to the March for Science in DC, which happened to be, appropriately, on Earth Day. It was a day filled with great people, great posters and a sense of purpose. Even the rain couldn't dampen the that warming feeling - together, we can change this world for the better. Still, I struggle with the fact that I just went to a march for science. Science! Really? This is what we've come to?
Today is the March for Science! (It's also very appropriately Earth Day of which I'm a big fan.) In honor of all things science-y, I've compiled a list of the favorite books of some of my favorite scientists! These are books these scientists have said are some of their favorites! (Yay scientists and science and books!)
Given the rolling back of climate change regulations in the US, which is based not on data or reality or science, but rather on the influence of greedy oil and coal mega-companies and their government lackeys, I thought a blog discussing writers who have exposed the consequences of human ignorance, selfishness and arrogance on the world climate through fiction was appropriate today.
• This week in Northern Virginia we again saw record highs, all week. Not just one day, not just one afternoon - all week. In February in the Washington, DC area, the cherry blossoms are budding.
