Taking a Page from Wonder: Books that Choose Kindness

Kindness. It's something I think everyone would agree this world could use a lot more of. Good thing there are lots of books to help inspire us to be kinder to each other!

My January Reads: The Most Books I Think I’ve Read in One Month!

Books make me happy in a way that may confuse many people. It's a kind of obsessive, craving love that would be unhealthy if it were directed at a human.

How I Spent My Holiday Break: Binging on Books

As I flitted around to various holiday celebrations, I started to notice a trend, people like to talk about their latest TV binge obsession. I like to binge TV too, but over my holiday break I binged something better. I binged books!

Introverted Author Takes Over Facebook, Sort Of

I'm an introvert or an ambivert (a person whose personality has a balance of extrovert and introvert features) or I'm an introvert who learned to manage in an extroverted world. It all depends on the definition. Regardless of how it's categorized, I have introvert features that make marketing a book very difficult. And, yet, I have to do it. This weekend in fact I'll be inflicting my introvert awkwardness on a Facebook Takeover Event hosted by Saguaro Books, the publisher of my book, The Travelers. (If that's not a fantastic pitch to get you to come to the event, I don't know what is!)

Nonfiction Recommendations to Satisfy a Fiction Reader

Some people read only fiction. Some people read only nonfiction. I read both. But if you asked me for my top 10 favorite books, there would not be a nonfiction book in the list.

Ten for Tuesday: 10 Great Books Featuring Inspirational Teachers

This weekend in Washington, DC, there will be a march. Shocking I know. This is a good one though. It's a march for public education. In honor of the cause, here are 10 great books about inspirational teachers, the lifeblood of our public education system.

Friday 5: Jane Austen Throws Shade, Fairies are Real & More of the Best Bookish Articles This Week

This is one of my favorite blogs to write. On Friday, I pick five book-related articles from the last week (or so) that I really loved and share them so everyone else can love them too! This week brings us Shady Jane, fierce fairies and lots more bookish fun!

Then and Now: Rewriting the Book on School Reading Lists

In high school, although I was loathe to admit it to friends, I loved English class. Outwardly I complained like everyone else about the 'boring' books the teachers put on the reading lists. Inwardly I loved them.

Friday Five: Analyzing 5 Books in My ‘To Be Read’ Pile I Just Keep Skipping Over

Book lovers all have a TBR, aka to be read, pile that is either a real stack of books in their house or a list in their kindle cue or on Goodreads. I have all three. I have more books then I will probably ever be able to read unless I decide to stop working, eating and sleeping for the rest of my life. That doesn't mean I won't try.
