Today I walked outside, a bright sun shone like a spotlight on all the vibrant reds, mellow yellows, and perfect peaches still clustered in the trees. The rest of fall crunched on the ground beneath my feet. It reminded me of... Continue Reading →
I’m headed to a local high school football game tonight, the second one I will attend in a two week period. I went to my high school reunion in mid-October and channeled some Friday Night Lights action during the event. Although, for me, the highlight was the tour of the school, especially the library. You can tell because I took more pictures of it than anything else. Yes, my love of books manifests itself in strange ways. Today, I’m going to embrace football and “tackle” creating a list of top YA books featuring, you guessed it, football and things associated with it.
One of my favorite Halloween traditions is watching The Simpsons 'Treehouse of Horror'. This year 'Treehouse of Horror XXVII' already aired on October 16. But it's the year 2016 and if you haven't seen it yet, it's pretty easy to figure out a way. Or, if you prefer, check out one of the classic episodes from earlier seasons. Not sure which one to watch since there are 27 of them? Stay tuned and I'll help you out.

Sure, it’s strange to go somewhere with the goal of intentionally being scared out of your mind. And, yet, we do it and we love it. In fact, our cultural obsession goes well beyond the ghostly and ghoulish temporary creations erected for Halloween.

Sadly, Teen Read Week is coming to an end. In honor of that ending, I’ve compiled a list of books with crazy plot twist endings! Predicting the plot twists for any book, movie or TV show is one of my superpowers...
Break out the napkins, parmesan and red pepper flakes because it is National Pizza Month. Why on earth is a blog focused on books and writing talking about pizza? Well, firstly, pizza is a great. I feel like that is reason enough. But, in case you need something more book-y, it’s also a main food group for one of the characters in my book, The Travelers. So, I thought an ode to the pie would be appropriate. As a former NYC resident... You need to understand that pizza is very important to me.
We recently had a little puppy photo shoot at my house where my 11-year-old daughter took pictures of our dog, Cupcake (take a quick guess who named her), with a copy of The Travelers. In honor of that, my daughter and I came up with a list of our favorite books starring four-footed furry friends. Check out our picks for best books about animals.
